Can anyone at Festival Republic confirm, or indeed deny, this – hopefully the latter but you know what they say...no smoke without fire...
(NB - this is not designed as a thread for everyone to jump in and bang on about how good it used to be / what killed it etc - I'm just looking for Jodie or someone - ie an official FR a/c - to comment on this)
cheers

Is twitter the equivalent of overhearing the 'man down the pub' or is it reliable?

Since then, a number of agents (who are often the first people to find out outside of the organisation) have been offering artists previously booked over BC weekend to other parties.
It might be a case of putting 2 & 2 together, but considering the shockingly low ticket sales last year, I can't imagine they've shifted many early bird tickets for this year and may have had to just cancel some artists. It would be a real shame to cancel the whole festival as I really doubt it could bounce back a year later.

This is what happens when FR takes over. Soul ripped out, identity lost, festival dies.
If you work at FR, hang your head in shame. Your company is the antichrist to individualism and creativity.

LOL tbh. extra points for use of religious hyperbole.

Well considering they have been living the highlife off the festival boom over the last few years, then none that I can recollect, although there might have been some. But it is well acknowledged in the industry that this is the year the bubble is really going to burst on the festival scene, and which is one of the first major ones to go? Yup, you've got it, a FR festival. A festival that used to carry an identity, used to have a sense of independence and individuality about it until FR got its grubby mits on it. You could tell last year that all the soul and character had been sucked out of the festival by these leeches. Turning it into just another festival. Well when it comes to a time when people start to get picky about what they spend their money on, its no surprise that the bland, generic, "festival-by-numbers" suffers.
But hey, you're a douche with 30000 posts so what do I know. Go ahead and defend FR if you want. I'm fairly sure though that if Big Chill still had the boutique vibe it had when it was independent (see SGP, Bearded Theory, Green Man etc...) then it is possible it wouldn't be where it is now.
